Further to my post last week on languishing, this week I note a related concept of “brain fog” which was featured in this article by Moya Sarner (who has also written on the power of listening, a focus of another one of my previous posts). Brain fog is the phenomenon of “finding it hard to think clearly, or [to] remember what happened when” which may be more accentuated over the past year of COVID-19 restrictions as “everything is so samey.”
The advice of Jon Simons, professor of cognitive neuroscience at the University of Cambridge, who has studied the phenomenon “to us all is to get out into the world, to have as rich and varied experiences and interactions as we can…The more we do, the more the brain fog should clear…” So that is license, if ever one is needed, to do something novel ahead!
